(Nashville, Tenn., 4-23-03) - Bridgestone/Firestone offers a free brochure explaining tire selection, use and care for owners of recreational vehicles and travel trailers.
The brochure features 14 pages of colorful, easy-to-read sections on topics including vehicle loading, tire care, repairs, inflation pressure maintenance, dual tire assemblies and tire rotation. In addition, it includes a list of industry contacts for additional information.
Called “Rx for Light Trucks, RVs, Mini-buses & Ambulances,” the brochure is partly a response to surveys done by both Bridgestone/Firestone and independent groups showing that nearly a quarter of recreational vehicles on the road today have tires that are dangerously overloaded.
In addition, the brochure’s content applies equally well to many similar vehicles, including light trucks, mini-buses and ambulances, that use equipment similar to RVs and are subject to similar problems of tire overloading.
RV owners are strongly advised to weigh their vehicles to determine if they are overloaded. Each brochure includes a worksheet with detailed instructions on how to weigh an RV or travel trailer – and a place to record the results.
Emphasizing that the key to reducing tire problems is maintaining correct inflation pressures, RV owners are urged to check and adjust their tire inflation pressures at least once during every travel week. The importance of good tire care and maintenance, both at home and on the road is also stressed.
