STRANGE THINGS
MILLION-MILE casings?

Michael Barclay of Barclay, Inc. poses with a couple of his “million-milers.”

We’ve been looking for them, but we certainly didn’t expect to find so many at one fleet. But Barclay, Inc. of Henderson, Tennessee, has produced – so far – 18 Bridgestone casings with over one million miles on them.

We say “so far,” because there may be more to come. Michael Barclay and his crew haul U.S. Mail to and from the Memphis area and Springfield (Massachusetts), Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis and other destinations.

This kind of performance is by no means typical, but Barclay’s experience indicates it can be done – provided you start with tires that deliver both ultra-long original mileage and good casings – then take good care of them, especially practicing good inflation pressure maintenance.

Barclay checks inflation pressure regularly on every one of its 25 trucks, racks up close to 300,000 miles per tractor per year, and PMs vehicles about every two weeks.

In this era where we’re looking for vehicles and components that last longer and longer, it’s nice to know that with good care, tires can also go the distance.

[And, we’ve found another fleet with some million-mile casings as well. We’ll tell you about that one another time.]
