| A successful New
York businessman once remarked, "All
my assets go down in the elevators at 5pm." And, legendary
adman David Ogilvy used to tell his employees, "If
each of us hires someone smaller than ourselves, we will end up
an organization of dwarfs. But if each of us hires someone just
a bit bigger than ourselves, eventually, we will be an organization
of giants."
This time in Real Answers, our
recurring theme is people as assets.
First, we’ll see how Bill Canary and the American Trucking
Associations are working to mobilize the trucking industry to unite
to make its needs and wants known in both Washington and in the
country’s statehouses.
Then, Robert Low of Prime, Inc. tells us how people turned that
company around and what Prime does to make sure it gets and keeps
the best people at every level of the organization.
We’ll also see how important people can be for your drivers
on the road when they call our Fleet Support Center for service.
And, how important people can be to all of us, as we look at the
skills, strength and stamina required to be one of our nation’s
firefighters.
In our continuing series on tire manufacturing, we’ll see
how the chemistry of rubber turned it from a novelty into one of
the industrial world’s most important assets.
And, we’ll round out this issue with a look at selecting the
ideal inflation pressure for your tires and keeping those assets
from aging prematurely.
