Is That Ride a Class 8?
Art comes from inspiration. Believe it or not, the inspiration behind Walt Moss’ motorcycle design is the Bridgestone Greatec R125 tire. Yes, that’s the wide base truck radial you see on the rear of Walt’s hand-built custom motorcycle.
Walt owns a trucking company in Lake Nebagamon, Wisc., near the western edge of Lake Superior. He’s driven the wide-base bike to several shows, including the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. In fact, his one-of-a-kind bike got the attention of the Travel Channel, who waved him down for a chat.
“Rides no worse than a bobcat,” said Walt (which sounds a bit brutal to us), who has already put more than 1,200 miles on the bike and he admits, since it has a regular motorcycle tire on the front, it’s a little hard to steer. “It was a bit weird at first, but I’m used to it. In fact, I like it a lot.” |
